From Rentals to Manufacturing: Our Journey
It started with a simple idea: help riders discover the incredible routes around Nazaré. Over the years, we've accumulated thousands of kilometers of experience, hundreds of rider reviews, and a deep understanding of what the perfect gravel bike should be for Portuguese trails.
IRONDEER Gravel wasn't born in a design office — it was born on the roads. Every detail of geometry, every component choice has been tested on coastal sandy trails, gravel farm roads through vineyards, steep climbs to olive groves, and fast descents through oak forests.
Why Portugal? Why Now?
This is where IRONDEER was born. Nazaré isn't just our office — it's our testing ground, our home, our inspiration.
Every morning we ride the Silver Coast routes. Every evening we analyze what worked and what needs improvement. Our customers become friends, share their experiences, tell us what their bikes are missing. We didn't study the market — we live in it.
Portugal gave us the perfect conditions for creating a gravel bike:
Surface diversity — from sandy coastal trails to mountain gravel roads
Real testing routes — 80km loops with 1800m elevation gain
Riding community — thousands of customers who tested our bikes
Climate — year-round riding allows constant testing
Manufacturing bikes in Portugal is a logical step. We create bikes here, test here, ride here. Now we'll manufacture here too.
IRONDEER Gravel: A Bike Built by Portugal
Design Philosophy
Our gravel bike embodies the Portuguese spirit of adventure. It must be fast enough for the 80km loop from Nazaré through Alcobaça to the summit of Serro Ventoso. Stable enough for sandy coastal trails. Comfortable enough for all-day countryside explorations. And reliable enough to handle all of this in a single day.
Technical Advantages
UCI-Certified Carbon Frame
Our frame and fork are certified by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) — the organization that governs world cycling races. This isn't marketing; it's a guarantee of structural integrity at the professional level.
Geometry Born on Portuguese Roads
Balance of stability and agility — for confident handling on mixed surfaces
Extended wheelbase (1021-1027mm) — for long-distance comfort
Optimized Reach/Stack — for aggressive yet comfortable positioning
Internal Lockr Storage System
Tool and spare storage inside the frame — because on an 80km route to Alcobaça monastery, you don't want to hear rattling in your saddlebag.
Shimano GRX 1x11: The Gravel Machine's Heart
40T chainring with 11-42T cassette — perfect range for Portuguese hills
GRX hydraulic disc brakes with Ice-Tech rotors — confident braking on coastal descents
Components specifically designed for gravel — not a compromise between road and MTB
DT Swiss Wheels + Pirelli Cinturato
Tubeless-ready DT Swiss rims — lightweight and reliable
Cinturato 40mm — ideal width for Portuguese coast mixed surfaces
Fast enough on pavement, grippy enough on gravel
Carbon Cockpit
Carbon handlebar and seatpost — not for aesthetics, but for vibration damping on multi-hour gravel rides.
Gravel Endurance Saddles
Prologo Dimension AGX with Slide Control technology
Selle Italia Novus Boost Gravel with Superflow cutout Both specifically designed for gravel geometry and long rides.
