Our bike tour begins in the picturesque Portuguese town of Nazaré, known for its giant waves and traditional fishing boats. Leaving the coastline behind, we'll head inland along country roads, breathing in the fresh air of rural Portugal. The road will take us through wide fields, gradually changing into well-maintained apple orchards, where we can catch the sweet scent of ripening fruit.

Our destination is Alcobaça, a historic town with a rich heritage. Here, you’ll find one of Portugal’s most impressive monasteries – Alcobaça Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This grand Cistercian monastery, founded in 1153, amazes with its Gothic architecture and towering columns. Inside, you'll find the famous tombs of King Pedro I and his beloved Inês de Castro, whose tragic and romantic story has become one of the most iconic in Portuguese history.

(Option) After a stroll through the town, we’ll stop at a cozy village restaurant for a hearty lunch, where the highlight will be a T-bone steak, grilled to perfection. With a glass of local wine and traditional sides, this meal will be the perfect end to the first part of our journey, filling us with energy for the rest of our adventure. (not included in the tour price, add 20-25 euros per person with meat and wine)

After lunch, we’ll head to the ruins of an old castle. These ancient ruins hold centuries of history – once, this was an important defensive stronghold. Today, only the stone walls and fragments of towers remain, but from here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area – endless fields, fruit orchards, and the red rooftops of Alcobaça.

Next, we’ll visit the Garden of Love (Jardim do Amor) – a beautiful, romantic spot tied to the legendary story of Pedro I and Inês de Castro. The garden is full of greenery and flowers, creating a peaceful and intimate atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to relax in the shade, wander along neat paths, and enjoy the tranquility.

After the walk, we’ll hop back on our bikes and make our way back to Nazaré. On the way, we’ll once again be surrounded by picturesque apple orchards and rural landscapes. As we reach the coast, we’ll be treated to a beautiful sunset over the Atlantic Ocean – the perfect way to end a day filled with adventure, history, and natural beauty. 🚴‍♂️🌅
