IronDeer Wheel Warranty

Three years on manufacturing defects, a discounted replacement rim after a crash, and free fitting of your spare spokes in the first year. Every claim is handled in our workshop in Nazaré.

Built by Us, Serviced by Us

IronDeer wheels, including the G50 SL, come with a three-year warranty from the date of delivery. It covers manufacturing and material defects in the rim, hub, spokes and nipples.

We build and service the wheels ourselves, so a claim does not travel anywhere. You bring or ship the wheel to our workshop in Nazaré, we inspect it, and we fix or replace what is covered. No factory abroad and no dealer in between.

We are just as clear about what the warranty does not cover. Carbon wheels on gravel take hits, and damage from riding is not a defect. For that there is a crash replacement price on rims and a service centre with transparent prices, both explained below.

What Is Covered, What Is Not

The warranty covers faults in how the wheel was made. It does not cover what happens to the wheel on the road or trail.

Covered

  • Rim

    Cracks, delamination or spoke-bed failure caused by a manufacturing or material defect.

  • Spokes and nipples

    A spoke or nipple that fails because of a defect in the part itself.

  • Hub

    Defects in the hub shell, axle and D69 ratchet mechanism.

  • Rim tape and valves

    Tape or valves that were faulty at delivery.

  • Use

    Riding on the terrain the wheel is designed for, with 40 to 60C tyres at a suitable pressure.

  • Finish

    Paint or finish defects present at delivery.

  • Ownership

    The original buyer, with proof of purchase from IronDeer or an authorised IronDeer dealer.

Not covered

  • Rim

    Damage from a crash, pothole, rock strike or any other impact. See crash replacement below.

  • Spokes and nipples

    Carbon spokes broken or damaged by stones, branches, a dropped chain, a crash or any other impact.

  • Hub

    Normal wear of bearings, ratchet rings, springs and freehub body. These are service items.

  • Rim tape and valves

    Tape and valves worn or damaged in use, and sealant residue.

  • Use

    Tyres outside the specified range, heat damage such as a wheel left near a car exhaust, incompatible parts, or faults caused by improper assembly or repair.

  • Finish

    Scratches, chips and fading from normal use.

  • Ownership

    Wheels bought second-hand from a private seller.

Crash Replacement on Rims

If a rim is damaged in a crash or an impact within three years of purchase, the original owner can buy a replacement IronDeer rim at 30% off its listed price. For the G50 SL that means €140 instead of €200. This covers what the warranty does not: a pothole you did not see, a rock on a fast descent, a race incident.

We inspect the wheel, document the damage with photos and confirm whether the rim can still be ridden safely. If it cannot, the new rim is built into your wheel in our workshop. Rebuild labour, and any spokes and nipples needed, are charged at our service centre prices and quoted before any work starts. The rim price that applies is the one listed in our shop on the day of your claim.

What You Pay For

Warranty work costs you nothing. Everything else is quoted in writing before we start.

Spare spoke fitting

Fitting the spare spokes from your wheelset's kit is free for the first 12 months after delivery, whatever broke the spoke. After the first year, or with spokes beyond the kit, fitting is charged at service centre prices.

How to Make a Claim

Warranty claims, crash assessments and service jobs all go through our workshop in Nazaré.

    Email info@irondeer.pt with your wheelset model, proof of purchase and clear photos of the problem.

    2. First assessment

    We look at the photos and tell you whether it is likely a warranty case, a crash replacement or a service job.

    3. Bring or ship the wheel

    Drop it off in Nazaré by appointment, or send it by tracked courier in a wheel bag or box with the brake rotor protected.

    4. Inspection

    We inspect the wheel and document what we find with photos and a short written report.

  5. 5

    5. Repair and return

    We repair or rebuild the wheel, then return it by courier or keep it ready for pickup.

Your Legal Rights

This warranty is given in addition to your rights as a consumer, not instead of them. Under Portuguese consumer law (Decreto-Lei 84/2021), the seller is responsible for any lack of conformity that appears within three years of delivery. Nothing on this page limits those rights.

If you bought IronDeer wheels from another shop, contact that shop first. We will support them with the technical assessment.
