Why the Orbea Rise H15 Works in Nazaré
The Rise H15 was designed to feel like a normal mountain bike — just one that climbs without effort. That balance matters in Nazaré, where the terrain switches quickly between flat coastal roads, moderate climbs toward Sítio, and steeper trails in the hills above the town.
The EP8 RS motor is tuned to 60 Nm, which is lower than most e-MTBs on the market. The result is assistance that feels proportional to your pedalling — you control the effort, the motor amplifies it. On the route to Praia do Norte it is almost unnecessary. On the climb from the beach to the Sítio clifftop — 110 metres of elevation in under 2 km — it earns its place immediately.
The 540 Wh battery covers a full day of mixed riding in Nazaré without recharging. The optional 252 Wh range extender, carried in the bottle cage, extends this to 792 Wh total — relevant if you plan a longer coastal route toward São Martinho do Porto or Peniche.
The Fox 36 fork and Fox Float X rear shock handle the terrain between the Atlantic coast and the Nazaré hills comfortably. On gravel paths and forest tracks, the 150/140 mm travel removes the roughness without making the bike feel sluggish on tarmac.

In Eco mode on flat coastal roads, range extends significantly. In Boost mode on steep climbs, it reduces. A 252 Wh range extender is available for longer multi-day routes.
The EP8 RS is a version of Shimano's EP8 motor tuned specifically by Orbea for a more natural ride feel. The maximum torque is set to 60 Nm rather than the standard 85 Nm of the regular EP8. This makes the assistance feel more proportional to your pedalling input — particularly noticeable on moderate terrain where you want control rather than maximum power.
