One crew, one workshop, one promise
Irondeer started as a bike rental and tour operator in Nazaré, on Portugal's Silver Coast. Everything you see above grew from that base — added because riders, locals and partners asked for it, never because it looked good on a brochure. A rental, a guided ride, a brake bleed, a wheelset test, a company off-site: it is the same crew, the same workshop, the same standard.
That is why nothing is subcontracted. The mechanic who builds your rental is the one who fits your Elitewheels demo. The guide who leads your team-building ride is the one who knows which café in Alcobaça stays open in low season. We run the calendar, the routes, the support van and the after-ride coffee, so the experience holds together end to end.
Most riders start with one service and circle back for another. A rental becomes a tour, a tour becomes a workshop visit, a workshop visit becomes a wheelset demo, and somewhere along the way an HR director books a corporate off-site. The page above is the menu — the section below answers the questions we hear most often before riders commit.
Frequently asked questions
Everything visitors, locals and partners typically ask about Irondeer's cycling services in Portugal — from where we operate to how far in advance to book.
Irondeer runs six in-house cycling services across Portugal: premium bike rental (road, gravel and e-bikes), expert-led guided tours along the Silver Coast and central Portugal, a full-service repair and tuning workshop, demo rides of Elitewheels carbon wheelsets as the brand's first official Portuguese partner, bespoke corporate team building, and community events for cyclists in Nazaré, Lisbon and Porto. Every service is delivered by the same crew — nothing is subcontracted.
Our home base is Nazaré on the Silver Coast, where you collect rentals, drop bikes off for service, and start most guided tours. We deliver rentals along the central coast and run guided rides through Alcobaça, Óbidos, Fátima and the surrounding hills. Corporate team building and community ride events run in Lisbon and Porto as well, with new permanent locations planned in both metros.
Yes — and most riders do. When you book a guided tour the bike, helmet and water are included; you pick a road, gravel or e-bike at booking and we have it ready on the day. If you are already mid-rental we will swap your bike for the right model on tour day. Multi-day itineraries with a rental bike and a guide on selected days are also possible — tell us your dates and we will build the route.
Yes. The Nazaré workshop is open to every cyclist, including travellers passing through with their own bike. We handle tune-ups, drivetrain replacement, hydraulic brake bleeds, tubeless setups, custom wheel building and warranty work for the brands we partner with. Drop-in is welcome for quick fixes; for full services we recommend booking a slot so your bike is ready when you need it back.
As Portugal's first official Elitewheels partner, Irondeer keeps a rotating selection of the brand's carbon wheelsets available to test on real roads — not a showroom floor. Reserve a demo through the Elitewheels test center page on this site and we will fit the wheels to a comparable bike, then meet you at the Nazaré shop or join you for a ride. Demos are typically half-day; if you buy a set after testing, the demo fee is credited back.
Yes — corporate team building and brand-hosted ride days are a core part of what we do. We design half-day and full-day cycling experiences for teams of 6 to 60, including e-bike formats for mixed-ability groups, logistics, support vehicle, catering and photography. We also host brand demo days and Irondeer community rides in Nazaré, Lisbon and Porto. Send us your dates and group size and we will return a proposal.
Our guides and shop team speak fluent English and Portuguese, with conversational French and Spanish across the crew. Booking confirmations, route briefings, safety instructions and the booking platform are all available in English and Portuguese. If your group needs another language we can usually arrange a translator for guided tours and corporate events with advance notice.
For bike rental in low season (November to March), a few days notice is usually enough. From April to October — and especially around the European peak in July and August — we recommend booking rentals two to three weeks ahead and guided tours four to six weeks ahead. Workshop bookings are flexible and drop-ins for minor work are welcome. Elitewheels demos and corporate events need at least two weeks to coordinate properly.
