Orbea
URRUN 30
Discover the perfect blend of urban agility and off-road capability with the Orbea URRUN 30 e-bike in Nazaré. This versatile electric bike features a powerful Shimano EP8 RS motor, comfortable geometry, and reliable components, making it ideal for exploring both the charming streets of Nazaré and the scenic trails of Portugal's Silver Coast.
Why Ride the URRUN 30 in Nazaré?
Nazaré is not just about the beach. Behind the famous surf breaks, a network of trails runs through the Pinhal de Leiria pine forest, along the edge of the Nazaré canyon, and up the limestone ridges of the Serra de Aire foothills. The Orbea URRUN 30 was designed exactly for this kind of terrain.
The Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork delivers 120 mm of travel — enough to absorb the loose gravel and occasional rocky patch you'll find on the trails between Nazaré and Famalicão, but precise enough to feel connected on the long asphalt climbs up to Sítio. This is a bike that rewards pedalling. Where a full-suspension e-bike absorbs everything and isolates you from the trail, the URRUN 30 puts you in touch with the ground — which, on the rolling tracks along the Atlantic coast, is exactly where you want to be.
The Shimano EP8 RS motor delivers 60 Nm of torque across four assist modes. That is more than enough to climb the steep cobbled streets of Sítio da Nazaré or power through the sandy stretches near Praia do Norte — without the system weighing you down on the descent. The 540 Wh battery gives you a real-world range of 60–90 km depending on your assist level, which comfortably covers a full day's exploration of the coast between São Martinho do Porto in the south and São Pedro de Moel in the north.
The 29-inch wheels with Maxxis Rekon 2.40" tyres roll fast on hardpack and dig in on loose ground. For the terrain around Nazaré — a mix of packed trails, forest paths, and short tarmac connectors — this is the ideal tyre choice. Not too aggressive to slow you on the road, not too smooth to slip on the trail.
Who is the URRUN 30 For?
The Orbea URRUN 30 is built for riders who want a trail-capable e-MTB that feels alive under them — not a bike that does all the work. If you have spent time on bikes before and you enjoy the feeling of actively riding rather than just being carried along, this is your machine.
The trail explorer. You have a full day in Nazaré and you want to see more than the beach. You are thinking about the canyon rim, the pine forest, the cliffside path up to Sítio, maybe a stretch of gravel road heading north toward São Pedro de Moel. You want a bike that can handle all of it without switching between modes every five minutes. The URRUN 30 does exactly that — trail, gravel, road, and back again, with the EP8 RS motor covering the elevation so you can focus on the scenery.
The fitness rider on holiday. You ride at home, maybe on a cross-country hardtail or a road bike, and you do not want to feel like you are on a rental. The URRUN 30's geometry is sporty, the 29-inch wheels roll fast, and the Shimano Deore drivetrain shifts cleanly. The electric assist is there when you want it — especially useful on the steep cobbled climb to Sítio — but it never takes over if you prefer to push.
The couple or group with mixed abilities. One person is strong on the bike, the other less so. On the URRUN 30, the less experienced rider uses a higher assist mode and keeps up easily. Both people ride the same route, the same distance, the same trails — and arrive at the viewpoint at the same time. That is one of the most underappreciated things about e-bikes in a place like Nazaré, where the terrain is beautiful but the hills are real.
The day-tripper planning a longer route. The 540 Wh battery and 60–90 km real-world range means you can plan an ambitious loop without worrying about running out of power before you get back. São Martinho do Porto and back from Nazaré is around 50 km — well within range even with generous assist use and a stop for lunch.

Frequently Asked Questions — Orbea URRUN 30 Rental in Nazaré
No. The URRUN 30 is a hardtail e-MTB, meaning it has front suspension only — a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork with 120 mm of travel. There is no rear shock. This makes the bike lighter, more efficient on climbs, and faster on smoother trails, but less forgiving on very technical or rocky descents compared to a full-suspension bike. For the terrain around Nazaré — pine forest trails, gravel tracks, and coastal paths — the hardtail geometry is well-suited and more than capable.
The EP8 RS motor produces 60 Nm of torque. This is a tuned version of the standard Shimano EP8 (which produces 85 Nm) — optimised for a more natural, less aggressive power delivery that suits longer endurance rides and mixed terrain. In practical terms, 60 Nm is more than enough to climb Sítio da Nazaré or power through loose sandy sections near the beach.
The 540 Wh battery gives a real-world range of approximately 60–90 km depending on your assist level, terrain, and rider weight. On a flat coastal route in Eco mode, you can comfortably reach 90+ km. On a hilly trail loop with frequent Boost assists, expect 50–60 km. Our staff will help you plan a route that fits your battery budget when you pick up the bike.
The URRUN 30 handles the full range of trails available from Nazaré: the Pinhal de Leiria pine forest tracks, the cliffside path to Sítio, the gravel road along the Nazaré canyon rim, and the coastal connections toward São Martinho do Porto and Pederneira. It is not built for extreme downhill terrain, but for everything that makes cycling in Nazaré special — it is an excellent match.
The Elevador da Nazaré (funicular) does not carry bikes. The most direct cycling route to Sítio is the main road from Nazaré town — a 2.5 km climb with roughly 110 metres of elevation gain. On the URRUN 30 with Boost assist, this is a manageable 15 minute ride. The views from the top over Praia de Nazaré are worth every metre of climbing.
Both bikes use the same Shimano EP8 RS motor and 540 Wh battery. The key difference is suspension: the Rise H15 is a full-suspension bike with 150 mm front and 140 mm rear travel, while the URRUN 30 is a hardtail with 120 mm front travel only. The URRUN 30 is lighter, more efficient, and better for longer distance rides on mixed terrain. The Rise H15 is more comfortable on rough, technical trails. If your priority is covering ground efficiently along the coast, the URRUN 30 is the better choice. If you want maximum comfort on technical descents, choose the Rise H15.
