Why Rent a Bike From IronDeer
We are the only rental in Nazaré that manufactures its own UCI-certified gravel bikes. Our IronDeer Gravel frames are built in Portugal, certified for professional racing, and tested on thousands of guided kilometres along the Silver Coast. You will not find them at any other rental shop — here you can actually ride one before deciding if you want to own one.
You get routes, not just a bike. Vasco, our founder and guide, has spent years mapping the coast between São Pedro de Moel and Óbidos Lagoon. Tell him how long you want to ride and what you want to see — cliffs, pine forests, fishing villages, dinosaur footprints — and you leave with a route matched to your legs, not a generic map. As one recent guest wrote after following his Strava route: "It was sensational. We rode through vineyards, past churches, a monastery and more."
The bikes are genuinely well maintained. Our fleet is built on current Orbea models, serviced after every rental. A bikepacker who has rented bikes around the world wrote that ours was "one of the best rental bikes, if not the best, I've ridden while traveling." That is the standard we hold every bike to.

≈10 km, easy with an e-bike. Up the funicular hill to Sítio, the viewpoint over Praia do Norte, and the lighthouse where the giant waves are watched in winter.
South to São Martinho do Porto
≈40–50 km round trip, moderate. Coastal hills, Salgado beach and the shell-shaped bay — the classic Silver Coast day ride.
North into the pine forests
≈50 km round trip, moderate. Quiet forest roads towards São Pedro de Moel, almost no traffic.
Gravel country towards Alcobaça
Flexible and demanding. Mixed-terrain riding through farmland and river valleys, made for gravel riders.

Rental or Guided Tour?
A rental is the right choice if you like planning your own day and stopping wherever you want. If you would rather have the hidden spots, stories and logistics handled for you, a guided e-bike tour is the better fit — especially for a first visit. Browse our guided e-bike tours in Nazaré to compare; several guests book a tour first and rent a bike for the days after, once they know the area.

Renting a bike in Nazaré costs from €25 per day at IronDeer for a mountain bike, from €30 per day for an e-bike, and from €40 per day for a full-suspension e-MTB, road or gravel bike. With an e-bike, anyone can ride up comfortably; on a regular bike the climb is a real workout. A regular mountain bike is the right pick if you are fit, want to ride forest trails, or simply prefer the lower price.

Yes — Nazaré is one of the best cycling bases on Portugal's Silver Coast. From the town you can ride coastal cliffs, empty pine forests, the bay of São Martinho do Porto and gravel country towards Alcobaça, all without transporting your bike anywhere. The variety of terrain within a day's ride is the reason we run both a rental fleet and guided tours here.
